The Gospel

The Gospel may be summarized in five words: God, Humanity, Jesus, Cross, and Resurrection.

GOD – In the beginning God created all things, and it was wonderful! He displayed His beauty, artistry, love, and provision His creations.  All was perfect, with all things good and nothing that was evil.

HUMANITY – God created men and women in His image. Every person has value, as there’s something in each of us that reflects God. Humanity chose to disobey God by sinning, leading to a broken relationship with God, with one another, and the ruining of creation. Our decisions led us deeper into sin, and regardless of how much we tried to run from it, we found ourselves enslaved. Suffering and death came because of sin resulting in separation from God in a place called Hell. We all need a Savior.

JESUS –  The Bible tells an unbroken story of God’s plan to rescue His people. He looked at the sinful, broken world and sent Jesus on a rescue mission. Jesus was born in ancient Israel, lived a perfect life, and showed us who God is through compassion, justice, and truth. Jesus’ entire life was driven by His mission to save people from their sins.

CROSS – The penalty for sin is death. Jesus, the sinless man, died so that sinners could know God and live. Jesus paid a debt He did not owe because we owed a debt we could not pay. He took the punishment for the sins of the world on Himself, because only God could atone for so great a burden. Jesus was willingly crucified so that terribly people could be restored to each other and to God.

RESURRECTION – From the world’s darkest moments, God brought about His greatest triumph: Jesus did not stay dead. The Bible and history tell us that on the third day, Jesus physically rose and appeared to hundreds of people. His resurrection is the beginning of God reclaiming His fallen creation. Jesus’ resurrection demonstrates the future hope of all who decided to follow Christ. Jesus created a new community of people, the Church, who follow God and find salvation. If you confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
